HIV Homecare Services

Patient Information What is a Homecare Medicines Service and how will it benefit me?

The Homecare Medicines Service offers delivery of hospital prescribed medicines directly to your home or other appropriate agreed location (for example your work place), offering you convenience and control over your hospital medicines supply. You won’t need to wait at the hospital pharmacy or travel back to clinic to collect your medicines. We use the Lloyds Clinical Homecare Service.

What does this mean for my continued care?

The clinic team will remain fully responsible for the clinical aspects of your treatment, and we will continue to keep your GP up to date with any changes to your care. As always, if you have any questions with regards to your treatment or your care, contact the clinic directly on 01463 888 300 for advice or to arrange a consultation.

Do I need to request my own prescriptions?

Upon registration to the homecare service, we routinely supply Lloyds Clinical with a 6-month prescription along with an estimated supply date. This will be based on your previous prescription dates and the information you provide about your remaining quantity of medication. Lloyds Clinical Homecare request repeat prescriptions for each patient and aim to receive these at least one month in advance of the delivery date. These prescriptions are managed by the pharmacist within the clinic; therefore you do not need to request a new prescription yourself. However, if you have plans to travel and will miss a scheduled delivery or will not have enough medication to take with you, please get in touch with us at the clinic. We can alter quantities and/or request delivery dates to be rescheduled to suit your needs.

How do I arrange delivery?

The Lloyds Clinical Homecare team will contact you directly to arrange delivery upon receipt of your prescription. We provide them with your mobile phone number; please let us know if you are happy for us to share landline numbers and email addresses. Lloyds will make at least three attempts to contact you by telephone, and will often send a written letter to let you know they have tried to be in touch. If you miss these calls, you can contact Lloyds Clinical directly to discuss your deliveries by calling 0345 2636 135 and selecting option 2, and then option 5. You will be asked to confirm your identity before any information is disclosed. Developed by Raigmore Hospital Pharmacy, NHS Highland. August 2026 If no contact is achieved by either party, Lloyds will put your homecare account on hold for 30 days before closing it if no further contact is made. Lloyds keep the clinic team informed in these situations; therefore we will also try to make contact with you to help resolve the issue.

How will my medicines be delivered?

Deliveries are made by a homecare delivery driver to your home. You can arrange to have your medicines delivered to a different address, but this must be agreed in advance. The driver carries official identification which you can ask to see. Your medication will be packaged securely and discreetly, it will not be obvious that the delivery contains medication. You, or someone you know, will always need to sign for your medicines delivery. It cannot be left in a ‘safe place’ or with a neighbour. This assures us that your medicines have arrived safely. Upon registration to the service, please let the clinic team know if you consent to another named person at your address receiving your medication. If we are not provided with this information, we cannot pass this onto Lloyds Clinical. We do not assume that partners or next of kin living at the same address are authorised to receive your medication.

My medication is running low and I haven’t heard from Lloyds, what do I do?

If you have reached the final month of your existing supply and Lloyds have not made contact with you to arrange delivery, it is likely that a prescription is in progress. You can contact Lloyds Clinical directly to discuss your deliveries by calling 0345 2636 135 and selecting option 2, and then option 5. If Lloyds do not have a prescription for you, please contact the clinic as soon as possible and we will process the request urgently.

What can I do to help?

Attend your routine clinic appointments for blood tests and reviews.

Ensure your contact details are up to date and inform us promptly of any changes.

Make sure someone is around to accept the delivery on the agreed day.

Check your delivery and tell your homecare provider if there is anything missing or not as expected.

If you have any concerns or issues with the homecare service, please inform the clinic team and we will try our best to address these for you. However, if you decide that the Homecare Medicines Service isn’t convenient for you, please let us know and we can revert back to your previous route of medication supply.
